Designer Information - Plie from Brazilian Shapewear
Plie (pronounced plee-ay) was created in 1998 to produce superior, seam-free lingerie for Brazil's modern, youthful women. Plie want to give women the opportunity to have beautiful, slimming lingerie without the ugly red marks that come with seams. The technology is there to create seam-free shapewear, it just needed to be brought to the general public. Women should not have to be ashamed of their lingerie because they wear shapewear!
Plie also discovered how complicated sizing was in the shapewear market, their design team decided that 4 simple sizes were all women need, and that once they know their size they can buy with confidence across the whole Plie range. The sizes are small, medium, large and x-large, covering UK dress sizes 8-20. Plie's ethos is not about making women instantly drop a dress size but making women look better in their clothes with a natural body shape, firm control around the waist and good bust support.
As Plie was designed in Brazil one of the problems they had to tackle was the heat. Shapewear is extremely uncomfortable to wear in the heat if not properly designed. Plie treats every single microfibre of the product with a unique moisture management system which gently draws perspiration away from the surface of the skin and as it evaporates it naturally keeps you cool. So despite the 10-15% Lycra content of Plie products these tight fitting garments can be worn all day, whatever the weather!
Today Plie is sold in more then 2000 outlets in South America and over 500 across Europe. More then a million garments have been sold to a million satisfied women, proving what wonderful products Plie make. 60,000 esbelts alone are sold each month in America.
